On your next trip to La Mesa, California, don’t forget to bring along your favorite four-legged companion! Your dog can be a great traveling partner, and there’s nowhere he or she would rather be than right by your side. But if you have a hyperactive dog then we must recommend you to use CBD treats for dogs in order to help him relax before taking him out as it can be quite difficult to control a hyper dog. Here are four dog-friendly activities to enjoy in La Mesa.

Canine Corners Dog Park

Canine Corners Dog Park is located inside Harry Griffen Regional Park. Three separate fenced areas at Canine Corners provide a designated space for small dogs to play and two spaces for dogs of all sizes. Shaded seating areas are available for you to relax while your dog romps, and each area has cleanup bags for dog messes and water to keep your pet well-hydrated.

Harry Griffen Regional Park is a 53-acre park with an amphitheater, jogging path, restrooms, and a playground. Dogs are allowed on-leash throughout the park, and off-leash inside Canine Corners.

Mission Trails Regional Park

For a bit more room to roam, check out Mission Trails Regional Park at the northern end of La Mesa. Mission Trails offers 60 miles of hiking trails, a Visitor and Interpretive Center, and boating on Lake Murray. At 7,220 acres, the park is one of the largest urban parks in the United States.

Trail distances range from a mile to up to 7 miles, and many smaller trails can be combined to allow for an outing of any length. Dogs are welcome on most of the trails at Mission Trails Regional Park and must be kept on a leash shorter than 8 feet. Dog waste must be picked up and disposed of immediately.

Anthony’s Fish Grotto, on Murray Drive in La Mesa, serves fresh seafood and welcomes dogs on the patio. It even provides water bowls and treats for furry visitors! Lake Murray Cafe, located on Lake Murray Boulevard, offers up American fare and outside seating that is perfect for your pet.

Book Place

Book Place, a used-book seller on Lake Murray Boulevard, is a book lover’s dream. With over 60,000 used books, Book Place has a great selection of fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, and best-sellers.

Book Place doesn’t just allow pets, it embraces them! Dogs, cats, and even birds are encouraged to visit any day of the week, but especially on Mondays for “Fur Baby Mondays.” Bookstore staff can take your pet’s picture to include on a special section of the store’s website, and there is a Puppy Bar for pets to visit while in the store.

Traveling with pets can be a delight, especially when there are plenty of pet-friendly activities to enjoy. In La Mesa, dogs are welcome on the trails, at the dog park, in restaurants and hotels, and in shops like the Book Place. Make the most of your next trip with your favorite four-legged friend.
